How to use Pricking iron correctly

Using a pricking iron correctly helps create straight, evenly spaced stitches and gives your leatherwork a clean, professional finish. Start by marking a stitching line, then place the leather on a suitable protective board. Hold the pricking iron vertically and strike it evenly with a leathercraft mallet or nylon hammer. As you move along the stitching line, overlap one or two teeth with the previous holes to maintain consistent spacing.

Always choose the tooth spacing and tool size that suit the thickness, thread size, and style of your project.
